Pooja (Kashyap) Apple

President & Co-Founder   she/her.

AIA, LEED AP BD+C, NOMA

A registered architect with a long history of sustainable design advocacy, community engagement, and award-winning designs, Pooja designs with integrity and innovation.

After earning her Masters in Architecture, Minor in Sustainability, and Certificate in Historic Preservation from the University of Cincinnati, Pooja headed out west to focus on sustainable architecture and urban design. She spent five years working at Hennebery Eddy Architects on PDX’s 800’ long Concourse E Extension along Airport Way, driving forward sustainability goals while coordinating 15+ specialty consultants.

Shortly after co-founding Portland’s first minority architects professional organization, she ventured into the world of commercial real-estate at Guerrilla Development to focus on affordable housing, adaptive reuse, and developer-led approaches to combating gentrification. She and her partner Brian co-founded Curious Architects in 2022.

Brian Apple

Vice President & Co-Founder .he/him

Registered Architect

Brian earned his Masters in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati, where he completed his thesis on community and curiosity in the built environment: Talking to Strangers: The Potentials of Playful Interaction in Public Space.

Brian then ventured out west to focus on adaptive reuse and multi-family housing design at Emerick Architects. Foreseeing the potential of building information modeling (BIM), he introduced his office to Revit, a powerful 3D modeling software, training staff while furthering his expertise. He’s most proud of his work on the Anna Mann House, a redevelopment of a historic property bringing 128 affordable housing units across 5 buildings, in a pedestrian-friendly, amenity-rich neighborhood, along one of Portland’s mass transit corridors.

Navigating Land Use Reviews, Historic Resource Reviews, and complex zoning and building code hurdles, Brian is adept at dissecting technical information into user-friendly guides to good design.

Human Resources?

It’s easy to get stressed out in the building industry. Olive reminds us what’s important in life: playing in nature with those we love.
